COCOA Study
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to understand how to best combine three different online teaching strategies to help caregivers learn to apply social communication intervention strategies with their young neurodiverse children. By helping caregivers learn to use these strategies in their daily lives, the goal is to help children learn new ways to spontaneously engage, communicate, and play with their caregivers.
Eligibility
You must live in the United States
Your child must be between 2 years and 0 months and 6 years and 0 months.
Your child must have a diagnostic record of autism for your child that you are able to share with the study team. If not, you can complete an autism screening with our research team to see if your child is eligible for the study
What will be doing
If your child is eligible and you choose to participate in this study, you will:
Provide a copy of a past autism evaluation report OR complete an autism screening with our research team
Complete questionnaires, one caregiver interview, and assessments with your child with support from our research team
Receive a combination of one or more of coaching, video feedback, handouts and an online program to learn to use JASPER with your child
Participation will last 12 weeks (approximately 30-160 minutes per week) plus one more assessment at 24 weeks.
